Ahmad Twenty20 Tournament Guyana's quest to emerge undefeated remained intact, as they beat Barbados by 33 runs last Saturday at Idelwild Park, Queens, in the 2008 Ed Ahmad Twenty20 Tournament. Guyana led by stand-in captain Lennox Cush won the toss and batted first, scoring 167 for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
A brilliant batting
performance by opener Zaheer Saffie who scored 93 runs off 61 balls
and including 11x4s and1x6, paved the way towards a sizable total.
Clay Williams, not out 39, and Lennox Cush 16, were the other contributors.
Bowling for Barbados K. Clark took 1 for 9 and O. Bostic 1 for 24. A large crowd was on hand and was possibly hoping to see the hard-hitting Sudesh Dhaniram punish the Barbadian bowlers, however the captain's decision to send Williams in ahead of Dhaniram, although a surprise, nevertheless saw Guyana emerging victorious in the end. Barbados in reply
scored 134 for 7 in their 20 overs, with top scorer Dale Richards,
32, M. Nurse 29 and O. Bostic 23. Bowling for Guyana, Cush took 4
