Bennett, Brooklyn: United Sports seeking revenge from an early season
loss at the hand of Vikings, struck fast and then decisive as they
pummeled Vikings to submission.
Scores: United Sports 237 for 10 in 36 overs.
Vikings 107 all out in 19 overs.
United Sports captain Ram Singh, winning the toss and opted to bat
firsts. Vikings R.Nandkumar struck early when he had S.Sankar caught
at the wicket without scoring. With the score at 1 for 1, inform E.Sahadeo
joined Z.Rasheed and the pair amassed 124 runs before Rasheed was
caught in the covers off the bowling of Mark A. Gomes for a well-played
36 (4x4).
Sahadeo and Rasheed dispatched Vikings bowlers to all parts of the
field. Team Vikings did not help their cause as several catches went
a begging.
Newcomer to United Sports, Deryl Roopchand, joined Sahadeo and continued
the onslaught before Sahadeo was trapped L.B.W to M.Gome for 91. Sahadeo’s
innings was decorated with 12 fours and 4 sixes.
Glen Lorick and fellow Trinidadian, Roopchand took United to 199 before
M.Gomes caught Roopchand on the square leg boundary off the bowling
of M. A Gomes for 33 (4x4 and 1x6). Lorick recalling the earlier loss
to Vikings hammered a lighting 32 from 13 balls, which included 3x6
and 1x4.
United Sports sitting quite comfortable at 173 for 4 from 25 overs,
lost the next six wickets while adding an additional 64 runs to the
tilt.
Vikings most successful bowler Alin Mahesh, took 3 for 11 while Harrinarine
2 for 25, M.A Gome 2 for 52. Nandkumar and Nagamootoo 1 wicket each.
In reply, Vikings could not come to grip with young Sewdat. He finished
the game with match winnings figures of 8 overs 3 maidens, 43 runs
and 6 wickets. He was ably supported by allrounder E. Sahadeo 3 for
46. Frances Mendonza, not able to handle the bat, claimed the wicket
of Chilli Gomes. For Vikings, Alin Mahesh 22, C.Gomes 22 and M. A.
Gomes 14 reached double figures.
United Sports moved in sole possession of second place will take on
New York Eagles at Floyd Bennett, while Vikings will play Rockaway
at Roy Wilkins Park.

Eagles flew over Victory with 190 runs
Bay Park, East Rockaway. Eagles batting first muscled their way to
294 for 9 from 40 overs. Inshan Ali 91, Hafeez Khan, 75 and Ferrell
Jagmohan 50 contributing to Eagles total.
In reply, Indar Persad 5 for 20 troubled Victory’s batsmen all
afternoon. Double figures scores were Manu 27 and Jasdeep 20.
This weekend, NY Eagles will host United Sports at Floyd Bennett Field,
while Victory to host Carpet Doctor at Bay Park.
Hempstead
CC won over International Sports by 65 runs
Roy Wikins Park, Queens – Hempstead batting first scored 321
for 7 from 40 overs. R.Gobin 153 not out, Gerald Singh 34. In reply
International compiled a fighting 256 for 8 in 35 overs before bad
light stop play. Andrew 95. H.Singh 3 wickets and Tariq 2 wickets
for Hempstead.
This weekend Hempstead will host Brooklyn Queens United at Floyd Bennett
# 2, while International will take on NY Lions at Flushing.
West
Dem youths won handsomely over New York Lions by 103 runs
West Demerara batting first scored 245 for 10 in 38.2 overs. Contributions
came from M.Balkaran 43, T.Kilawan 37 and M.Persaud 33. Bowling for
NY Lions, Sukah 2 for 32.
In reply NY Lions was restricted to 142 all from 34 overs. Only Sukh
52 and Randulop 21 made respectable scores. Young Jamal grabbed 4
for 24, T.Kilawan and D. Raganuth 2 wickets each.
West Dem to host Punjab Tigers are Beach 58 Street on Sunday.

Jumedeen Bowl Rockaway to Victory
Flushing Park Corona carpet doctor winning the toss and batting first
on a perfect day for cricket. The doctor could not treat Jerry Jumedeen
because all didn’t know what was going on with him. Jerry start
the 10 over with scores at 54 for 2. The Carpet Doctor was all out
in 20.4 overs for 108. Jerry Jumedeen finish with figure of 5-2-23-5
for the Carpet Doctor Ryan 26 Dennond 20 and Roger 19.
For Rockaway, P. Beepat 3 for 2 and Dhaniram 2 for 21.
In reply Rockaway hit off the 108 runs made by Carpet Doctor in 14
overs, Saud Hussain 27 and Sudesh Dhaniram 40 not out. Rockaway will
face Viking at Roy Wilkins Park this Sunday.
