Villagers Set Record Total Of 501 Against Pioneer

It was a runs fest in the Metropolitan Cricket League Div.1 game between Villagers Cricket Club vs Pioneer Cricket Club, at Gateway Park, Brooklyn. Villagers Cricket Club won the toss and batted first on a bright and sunny day, compiling an imposing total of 501 for the loss of 8 wickets in 40 Overs, which is a new league record.
Main contributors were: Akeem Dodson 33, 4x2 & 6x3, Marvin Simpson 98, 4x14 & 6x2, Ahmad Dodson 76, 4x2 & 6x9, Kevin Baugh 74, 4x6 & 6x5, Andrew Gonsales 40, 4x4 & 6x3, Talisman Gordon 46, 4x9, Kenroy Scott 38, 4x6. In the 1st 15 overs, the score board read 185 for 1 and after 25 overs it was 285 for 3.
There were a total of 46 fours and 22 sixes hit during Villagers innings. Bowling for Pioneer, Roy Tulley 8 overs for 120 runs, K. Pollack 8 overs 95 runs and 1 wicket, Soumon Khan 8 overs 66 runs and 3 wickets, Frank Hussey 5 overs 72 runs and 2 wickets, McLean Sarrabo 8 overs 83 runs and 1 wicket, and Author Smith Capt. 3 overs for 56 runs.
In reply, Pioneer playing 2 players short, and penalized 10 overs for slow over rate, were 94 for 5 wickets in 30 overs. Pioneer batting: Bobby Hameed 30, 4x2 & 6x3, Simone Khan 16, 4x1 & 6x2, Mclean Sarrabo 12, 4x1 & 6x1, Charles Mason 11, 4x1.
Villagers bowling: Ewart Gayle 8 overs 45 for 2 wickets, Talisman Gordon 7 overs 2 maiden 12 runs 1 wicket, Joel Persaud 7 overs 3 maidens 13 runs 1 wicket, Maurice Powell 5 overs 3 maidens 8 runs 1 wicket. Villagers CC is the Metro League's Div. 1 2009 runner-up champion. Pioneer was Div.2 champion, and promoted to Div.1 for 2010.
