Steve Massiah In Fine Twenty20 Form Leading To ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers

Sunday, August 30, 2009
Steve Massiah, the USA Captain and arguably the United States of America most prolific batsman, demonstrated fine Twenty20 form leading up to the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers with a blistering 104 against Albion Cricket Club, Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Bays Water Park, Far Rockaway, New York.

Steve Massiah batting during an NYPL game.

Massiah’s inning was decorated with six 6’s, six 4’s and fourteen 2’s as he helped his team United Sports Club to defeat Albion Cricket Club by 61 runs in the opening round of the 2009 Nassau New York Cricket Association, Division I 20/20 Tournament.Steve Massiah opened the batting with Vishal Nagamootoo (52) and the pair rocketed the United Sports Club’s total to 162 runs in eighteen overs before was out, caught for 104. Massiah was at his best in an exemplary Twenty20 inning.

The USA will certainly need a few more innings like this from Massiah early next year, February 2010, in the United Arab Emirates where the USA will be competing against Ireland, Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates for spot in the ICC World Twenty20 2010.

The top two sides from the tournament will go forward to join the 10 ICC Full Members in 2010 main event, set to take place in the West Indies in April and May at three locations - Barbados, Guyana and St Lucia.
