Pure Players CC was crowned Nassau Cricket League Super-4 Champion for the first time with a convincing win, by eight wickets, over Albion CC Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Beach 32nd Street, Far Rockaway.

With a sizeable crowd on hand for the Nassau Cricket League Division I Super-4 final, Sudesh Dhaniram and Raichandra entertained those present as they both powered Pure Players CC to victory.

Dhainram scored a blistering 62 runs not out and captured 3 wickets for 21 runs with his 8 overs.

Team mate Raichandra was equally impressive as Dhaniram in the final, scoring 102 runs, and was awarded the Man-of-the-Match.

Sudesh Dhaniram, the cricketer…
There are cricketers and those that play cricket. Sudesh Dhaniram is a cricketer by any standards who excels in big games.

No other player in the history of the Nassau Cricket League has earned and worn more Super-4 championship shirts than the “incomparable” Sudesh Dhaniram – this being his sixth.

The game…
With a colorful and festive crowd on hand and a beautiful day for cricket, Pure Players CC won the toss and sent Albion CC in to bat.

Albion CC was of to a quick start reaching 90 runs is 13 overs. However, with the introduction of Dhaniram into the bowling attack, runs were hard to come by.

Albion CC lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for 189 in 40 overs.

Harmacoond (50), Manbodhe (17), Baksh (15), Aziz (15) were the leading scorers for Albion CC.

Bowling for Pure Players CC, Sudesh Dhaniram captured 3 wickets for 21 runs, Daryl Roopchand 3 wickets for 50 runs and J. Khan 2 wickets for 29 runs.

An opening stand of a 100 runs between V. Raichandra (102) and K. Khan (17) and a entertaining knock of 62 runs by Sudesh Dhaniram was all that Pure Players needed,
as they reached their target (190) for the loss of 2 wickets in 37 overs – giving Pure Players their first Super-4 title.

Division II Super-4 Final
In a close and entertaining Division II Super-4 final, Brooklyn-Queens defeated regular season champion Carpet Doctor by 1 wicket.

Scores in the match:
Carpet Doctor 174 runs all out. Williams 26 runs, Dynand 25 runs, Bissram 24 not out.
Bowling for Brooklyn Queens, Captain Jerry Jumadeen 7 overs 2 maidens 33 runs 3 wkts and Rampersad 7 overs 1 maidens 40 runs 3 wkts.
Brooklyn Queens 175 runs for 9 wickets. Rampersad 56 runs, JP.Ramsingh 22 runs, T.J.Ramkissoon 19 runs, R.Samuel and M.Kemraj 17 runs each.
Bowling for Carpet Doctor, R.Narine 7 overs 32 runs 4 wkts and R.Ramoodit 6 overs 34 runs 2 wkts.
