League Semi-Final Game
With a very thin batting line-up Massih held the innings together, but wickets fell frequently around him. He went on to score a magnificent 107, as his team were all out for 205 in 39.5 overs. Two decisions against Challengers were very questionable ones. Perhaps, the umpires association should have done a better job scheduling neutral umpires, in such a match that featured mainly Guyanese and Trinidadian players. Both umpires officiating were of Trinidad decent, leading to speculation that the deck was stacked against Massiah's Challengers. Pure Players however demolished Challengers by 8 wickets in 32 overs, Sudesh Dhaniram lead the way with a magnificent 124 not out. K. Khan contributed a splendid 47. Challengers bowlers
showed very little guts in perhaps their biggest game of the year.
But in all fairness, Challengers were with their all-star allrounder
Kumar Nandalall and their ace keeper Prashad. Skipper Massiah faced
constant criticism from the crowd and some of his players, for sticking
too long with some of his bowlers. He continues to demonstrate that
he is unwilling to squelch criticism of him being a very selfish player. |
