Cricket
International Fought Hard To Secure Win Over Ravens
March 27th 2008
Cricket International had an emphatic win over Ravens. It was a spectacular
game with an see-saw twist which had both teams on the edge through
out the game. Cricket International won the toss and elected to bat
since Ravens was short three players. S. Persaud and Sha. Mohabir
(Ramchand) opened the batting for Cricket International and S. Persaud
didn't waste anytime connecting with a boundary off the first ball
of the game. This led S.Persaud to foresee a huge inning so much so
he tried to go for another big shot with a boundary off the second
ball and was caught within a few inches of the boundary. This was
the beginning of a very difficult start for Cricket International
losing their first 5 wickets for 30 runs in 4.5 overs.
Ravens held on to 4 brilliant catches and a run out to leave Cricket
International reeling on their first low moment in the game, which
was unfortunately not the only low moments for either team. However,
Cricket International had more batting arsenol in their camp and that
brought W.Asrula to the crease who exploded connecting with huge sixes
and fours all across the ground. This helped Cricket International
to bounced back into the game and their supporters and players was
delighted with the massive sixes and four from Wasim Asrula. When
it came to half time Cricket International was at the high moment
of the game with the score on 105 for 6 in 13 overs.
After the break Wasim Asrula continued to hammerred the ball with
more big shots and with exciting approval from his team and captain
and supporters. When it was said and done it was unfortunate for Asrula
since he ran out of batting partners trying to reach the ultimate
landmark of a century. He was left not out on a brilliant 67 runs
which included 7 fours and 4 huge sixes. There were 7.5 overs still
remaining and Cricket International were 143 runs all out. The only
other barsmen for Cricket International to reach double figure were
Sha Mohabir (Ramchand) who made a valuable 21 runs and R. Ramsamol
who contribute an impressive 16 runs in his first game. Bowling for
Ravens were Shaheed with 5 overs, 1 maiden, 20 runs for 2 wicket;
Deo had 5 overs, 35 runs for 2 wickets; Harrychand had 3 overs 18
runs for 2 wickets; Steve had 3 overs 27 runs for 1 wicket and Raymond
had 3 overs, 30 runs for 2 wickets.
Then it was Ravens turn to bat and they opened with S. Harrychand
and Deo, they both batted defensively to see Ravens to 21 runs without
loss with 7 overs completed. Then with the second changed in the bowling
W. Asrula took the ball and with his 3th delivery he had Harrychand
stumps sailing to give Cricket International the break through they
needed. Steve came in to bat and added a quick 3 runs, then in the
9th overs S. Mohabir had Steve stumps sailing.
Raymond was then asked to bat so he joined Deo and the two saw Ravens
to half time with the score on 59 for 2 which led Ravens to believe
their were in charge of the game. Then after the break Ravens seems
to solidified their chances of a win when Raymond connected with 4
fours to bring Ravens to a comfortable position and they continued
to added runs to the total which led to a partnership of 64 runs and
to bring Ravens to 85 for 2, but Cricket International was desperate
to make another break through.
Then there was a much needed run out of Raymond who prove to be the
most delightful batsman for Ravens with 36 runs. This brought Cricket
International back into the game and they went on to removed 3 of
Ravens wickets very cheaply. When it seems as if the game was in Cricket
International hands, Vishual came in to bat for Ravens and he connected
with 2 huge sixes in 2 consecutive deliveries, and in the very next
over he hit 2 fours in consecutive deliveries.
Vishual added three 2 shots and keeping on adding to Ravens total
and it seems as if Vishual was going to bring it home for Ravens with
the score on 119 for 5.
There were 4 overs to make 25 runs and Vishual again try to go over
the top and was brilliantly caught within a few inches from the boundary.
Shaheed and Sundar added some excitement for Ravens and cricket International
saw their hopes escaping once again when shaheed made two big fours
in consecutive deliveries, then Sundar also scoring a boundary in
the next over to bring Ravens within 5 runs of victory with only one
over remaining. Skipper D.Autar was left with the difficult task of
bowling the last over for Cricket International with Ravens on 139
runs and the last pair of Ravens batsmen at the crease. Skipper D.
Autar made a very great save for his team when he bowled Sundar in
the 24.1 overs and Cricket International won the game with 5 deliveries
remaining.
Bowling for Cricket International Sha. Mohabir ( Ramchand) was the
most impressive with 5 overs, 1 maiden, 16 runs for 1 wicket; fallowed
by Wasim Asrula with 5 overs, 21 runs, 1 wicket; S.Persaud (Kid) with
5 overs, 22 runs, 1 wicket; D.Autar with 4.1 overs, 26 runs, 2 wickets;
and G. Wahaab 5 overs for 42 runs. This was by far the most exciting
and trilling game played between these two teams, also this game had
alot of up and down moments for both teams as I said at the beginning
it was a see-saw game with many twists. I am sure everyone who watched
this game had a great time and truly enjoyed themselves and it was
the kind of cricket everyone comes to expect.
