EACA Elects New Executive Committee

Feb. 29, 2008
The Eastern American Cricket Association recently held its Annual General Meeting, along with elections for its 2008 Executive Committee. There were very few changes, as John Aaron was returned as President unopposed, with Rudy Persaud edging out Bayshore Tigers’ Qasim Butt for the Vice Presidential slot, Sunesh Wazid was returned as Secretary, while the new Treasurer is Everest/ACS’ Sase Singh. Assistant Secretary Treasurer is former EACA President Zaman Juman.

This is John Aaron’s second stint as President of the fourteen-club league, and soon after he was elected as the new Regional Director of the New York Cricket Region.

A highlight of the EACA’s meeting was an announcement that a recently established fund to benefit Imran Ali a cricketer from Unified Ambassadors Cricket Club, who is suffering from cancer, had exceeded $10,000. As of press time yesterday, the fund stood at $12,684,00 with contributions still coming in, as the former 33 year old cricketer continues to get medical treatment in the hope that he will beat the dreaded disease.

Under Aaron’s presidency during 2007, the EACA won the Inter-League Regional Championships as well as made a significant contribution to the championship team that won the New York City Mayor’s Cup.
