New York Gets Ready To Battle

The New York Cricket Region is preparing to do battle in the National
Eastern Conference Tournament. The selectors met two days ago and
selected a squad of 14 players to represent the New York region
in the national tournament which kicks off with the Eastern Conference
fixtures next weekend in New Jersey.
The New York squad includes some veterans as well as some very
promising youngsters. Among those selected to represent the region
are, Steve Massiah (Capt.) Lennox Cush (vice Capt.), Rohan Alexander,
Orlando Baker, Carl Wright, Steve Pitter, Barrington Bartley, along
with youngsters Akeem Dodson, Dominic Audain and Dennis Evans.
Dodson, the New York region’s Under-19 skipper has represented
the USA in international tournaments and will lead the New York
regional Under-19 squad to the national finals scheduled for Florida
during the Columbus Day weekend. The New York regional Under-19
team went undefeated (3-1) in the just concluded Eastern Conference
tournament held in Connecticut.
The Eastern Conference tournament for the senior players takes
place on Friday through Sunday, August 10-12 and will see the New
York team face off against its Atlantic, North East and South East
rivals and the right to represent the conference against their West
Coast counterparts.
