New York Cricket Region Eastern American led by Lennox Cush is expected to field a team that includes the majority of players who saw them through their last qualifying match against the Nassau New York League XI led by USA national skipper Steve Massiah. Cush indicated that there would be a few changes to his team, but he was very pleased with the core players who got them to the finals. On the other hand the New York Cricket League will be led by USA national player Rohan Alexander and include players such as Dave Wallace, O’Neil Powell and Ace Spencer. The Eastern American Cricket Association XI will include players such as Bhim George, Zamin Amin, Lennox Cush, Marlon Kallicharran, Telson Johnson, Anil Seebarran, Shiv Raghubar and Zaheer Mohammed. It has been some five years that New York has seen an inter-league tournament; therefore the anticipation is high and the right to brag for another twelve months will drive the adrenalin in the very competitive squads. Because of the location of the league, it has come done to a borough versus borough match. Eastern American Cricket Association is a Queens based league, while New York Cricket League is based in the Bronx. Earlier this year a predominantly Eastern American team representing
the Borough of Queens and bearing the name of its Borough
President Helen Marshall, defeated a Bronx XI led by Rohan
Alexander and included several players from the Cornwall Cricket
Club. Queens led by Lennox Cush put on a dazzling display
of stroke-play and bowling to convincingly capture the inaugural
New York City Mayor’s Cricket Cup at the Spring Creek
Cricket facility, located in the Gateway Plaza Mall. Cush
will be no doubt looking to repeat that victory against an
equally talented Rohan Alexander led XI, once more. |
