Sunrise Cricket Club Set To Embark On Its 20th Season; - Dave Narine Appointed Team Manager

Sunrise Cricket Club will celebrate its 20th anniversary in this season. To continue this rich tradition, SCC Board of Directors unanimously voted Guyanese American businessman Dave Narine team manager for this 20th anniversary season.

Dave Narine, known throughout the Guyanese community here in New York, and also a long time cricket fan / supporter, will know doubt make this newly minted appointment a long lasting one.

Mr. Narine has toured with Sunrise CC over the years to Guyana and Canada as an advisor, however, this time around he will be leading from the forefront as team Sunrise tackle its 20th anniversary season.

SCC Board of Directors also announced that Sunrise CC will tour Guyana later this season. It is expected that the executive body will finalized the upcoming season before April 1, 2008.

As in prior years, Sunrise will take on Riverside CC, Banks CC and Fairfield CC, all from Connecticut, while, Hoboken and two other teams from New Jersey challenge Sunrise.

A tour to Canada during this summer will also be high on Sunrise calendar of events. This year, team Sunrise will be looking to rekindle its relationship with the boys from Toronto and Brampton Canada.

As reported earlier, Sunrise President Sunil Ballie will be stepping down as soon as a replacement is found. The board of directors has engaged an outside firm to find a suitable candidate however, filling the current president shoes will be a monumental task.
