Queens Village Shines In Florida

A Queens Village All Stars squad kept New York’s flag flying in Florida by emerging the best team on show in an invitational competition last weekend in the Sunshine State.

They notched two victories against one loss due to fine performances from star Richmond Hill hard ball stars Debo Sankar, Zaheer Sadloo, Telston Johnson and Steve Mangru.

In their first game Queens Village All Stars defeated Florida XI with one over to spare, scoring 148 runs for five wickets in reply to 145 made by the opposition.

Based on run rate Queens Village All Stars reached the final after they tied with two other teams on 1-1 in their win/loss score.

The final was not played due to unforeseen circumstances, but Queens Village organized a game against a Florida Invitational squad instead and triumphed by five wickets. A brilliant unbeaten 83 by Sankar carried Queens Village to their target of 174. Noel Kistama supported with 27. Florida Invitational made 173 off their allotted 20 overs with Navin and Ravi topscoring with 35 and 24 respectively.

Tony and Noel bagged two wickets each for Queens All Stars while Navin came good with 3-25 when Florida batted.
